As much as I love sparkly white teeth, most whitening products cause painful sensitivity in my teeth and gums. I’m a habitual coffee and tea drinker, and I try to whiten my teeth about once a year. As a dentist’s daughter, I used bleaching trays during my teenage years, but I moved on to Crest 3D Whitestrips when I moved away from home. Although Crest 3D Whitestrips work really well, I started getting zings of pain in my teeth after using them for a few days. Now that I’m in my 40’s, the sensitivity is getting worse every time I try to use the hydrogen peroxide-based strips.
What’s In Crest 3D Whitestrips?
The ingredients in Crest 3D Whitestrips are as follows: Water, Glycerin, Hydrogen peroxide, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) Carbomer 956, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium saccharin, PEG-8, Acrylates copolymer, Polyethylene (the textured strip). The American Dental Association (ADA Council) has deemed Crest 3D Whitestrips safe and effective for at-home teeth whitening, but you may experience increased tooth sensitivity, gum irritation, and nerve pain after using the strips for a few days.
- Hydrogen Peroxide is the active whitening ingredient. A 2019 study on extracted human teeth found that teeth whitening products can harm the protein-rich tooth layer. The Researchers found that the hydrogen peroxide in whitening strips damages dentin (this may only be temporary).
- Sodium Hydroxide can cause skin and eye irritation.
- PEG-8 may be contaminated with 1,4-Dioxane, a potential carcinogen.
- Acrylates copolymer may be contaminated with skin irritants.
I recently ordered Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips in hopes of whitening my teeth without the tooth and gum sensitivity I experience from hydrogen peroxide.
What Are The Ingredients In Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips?

Does Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips Cause Sensitivity?
No, not at all. I had zero sensitivity when using the Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips.
Do Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips Work?
Yes, but do not expect your teeth to whiten by more than a few shades. They do not whiten as well as Crest 3D Whitestrips, but they are a gentle whitening option that won’t cause tooth and gum sensitivity. For the most part, the Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips also stayed on my teeth. I experienced a little slippage of the strips on my bottom teeth, but the strip was easy to put back in place. As far as the taste, I found the strips to have a mild lemon and sage flavor, which I didn’t mind at all.
Do I Recommend Lumineux Non-Toxic Whitening Strips?
Yes, absolutely! If you suffer from sensitive teeth and gums, Lumineux Non-Toxic Teeth Whitening Strips are the way to go. Your teeth won’t be blindingly white, but they will whiten up a few shades. Consider trying the Lumineux Teeth Whitening Kit for the full Lumineux experience. If you’re looking for drastic results, visit your dentist.
